Blue quilt from Bethany offered as Compass Housing Alliance auction item

Here is the quilt that Bethany Lutheran Church is donating to the Compass Housing Alliance Annual Auction and Gala, taking place Saturday, March 18, in Seattle. It's a lovely assemblage of blues and greens. When I look at it, it gives me hope that spring really will come, at some point. The quilt was made by the quilters here at Bethany, who meet every Tuesday to make dozens and dozens of quilts throughout the year. Twice a year, the quilts are boxed up and sent to Lutheran World Federation's warehouse in Baltimore. From there, they are shipped to the most destitute corners of the world, bringing with them a modicum of comfort. Visit compasshousingalliance.org or call me at 842-4241 for more details on the auction. Bethany has a big contingent going.

Scam aimed at Bethany members

Bethany member Louise Urness is warning everyone not to fall to a scam that's hitting her email this morning and potentially many more of us at Bethany. The email looks like it's from Norm Davis, a member here, but it is not. "I need your help" is the title, and the narrative is that Norm is stuck in the Philippines and he needs $1,700 from your to get out. DON'T OPEN THE EMAIL. DON'T SEND MONEY. It's not Norm.
