This past Sunday was our final day of Sunday school. Students learned about growing things at the newly reborn Bethany community garden. After four rounds of voting, participants in the the Northwest Washington Synod elected the Rev. Shelley Bryan Wee, pictured, as new bishop. She starts this fall, and replaces retiring Bishop Kirby Unti. Thanks to Bethany's voting members Paul Stumme-Diers, Jim and Veronika Rohrscheib and Barbara Swartling for all the studying they did on the many candidates and for the three days they devoted to the assembly, which took place in Lynnwood. For two years, Wee has been the assistant bishop for the synod.
