June 4th Announcements

Summer Worship Schedule:  With a sense of hopefulness and a deep yearning to be back together in-person for our worship services each week, Bethany is crafting a summer worship schedule with the expectation that we will be worshiping in the Bethany sanctuary in September. Here is what we have dreamed up for the the summer at Bethany.

June Sunday mornings:  Continued 10am Worship in a Drive-in setting, inviting people to bring lawn chairs to sit by their cars in the parking lot. The first three Sundays in June, our worship leaders will be Pastor Erin Grayson (June 6 & 13), and Pastor Kristy Daniels (June 20), while Pastor Paul is visiting grandson Fritz in Iowa.

Saturday Evening Indoors:  Periodically throughout July and August there will be a 5pm Saturday worship service in the sanctuary. These will be socially-distanced worship services, with no congregational singing, but it will include prayer, scripture, a sermon and holy communion. People attending the worship services are expected to be vaccinated, and there will be no fellowship hour. Stay tuned for more information.

July and August Sunday morning worship services and fellowship: The Sunday morning 10am service in July and August will take place ON THE LAWN west of the church. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, recliners, etc. or choose to remain in your cars, and join us for this outdoor worship experience in the beauty of summertime on Bainbridge Island. If people express interest in hosting an outdoor coffee hour, we will share that joy together as well. (Pastor Paul will host the first one on Sunday, July 4th.) Sign up to host a Sunday coffee hour on the Church bulletin board or by calling Debbie in the Church office. When the weather is stormy, we will hold our worship as a drive-in service oriented toward the stage.

Pastor Paul is off to meet Fritz! Pastor Paul will be away until June 26th meeting his beautiful new grandson, Fritz. The Bethany Quilters surprised him at the Rachel Circle Bible Study on Tuesday with a lovely quilt for Fritz.  Fritz, his mom and his dad are sure to appreciate this thoughtful gift.

Pastoral Care in June: Pastor Sonja Selboe will be available for pastoral care calls while Pastor Paul is away (June 4 - 26). Pastor Sonja can be reached at 360-297-1779.

Baccalaureate Sunday: Baccalaureate for graduating seniors will be held in the Bethany parking lot this Sunday at 3pm. Congratulations and best wishes to Bethany seniors Angelina Fenner, Fiona Johnson, Mitchell Milander and Luke Shields.

This week's announcements

Preliminary Worship Schedule moving through the summer:  With a sense of hopefulness and a deep yearning to be back together in-person for our worship services each week, Bethany is crafting a summer worship schedule with the expectation that we will be worshiping in the Bethany sanctuary in September.  Here is what we have dreamed up for the summer at Bethany.

May and June Sunday mornings:  10am Worship in a Drive-in setting, inviting people to bring lawn chairs to sit by their cars in the parking lot.  The first three Sundays in June, our worship leaders will be Pastor Erin Grayson (June 6, 13), and Pastor Kristy Daniels (20), while Pastor Paul is visiting grandson Fritz in Iowa.

Saturday Evening 5pm Indoor Worship Services will be held periodically throughout the summer, starting this Saturday, May 29th, and then picking up again in July (when Pastor Paul returns).  These will be socially-distanced worship services, with no congregational singing, but will include prayer, scripture, a sermon, and holy communion.  People attending the worship services are expected to be vaccinated, and there will be no fellowship hour.  Stay tuned for more information.

July and August Sunday morning worship services and fellowship will take place at 10am, ON THE LAWN west of the church. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, recliners, etc. or choose to remain in your cars, and join us for this outdoor worship experience in the beauty of summertime on Bainbridge Island. If people express an interest in hosting an outdoor coffee hour, we will share that joy together as well. (Pastor Paul will host the first one on Sunday, July 4th.) When the weather is stormy, we will hold our worship as a drive-in worship oriented toward the stage.

We celebrate the baptism of Asher Paige, son of Matt and Holly Paige.  This baptism is taking place in a Covid-sensitive private service on Saturday morning.    Please keep Asher and his family in your prayers of celebration and accompaniment.  Remember the promise the "assembly" makes in the course of this service: "People of God, do you promise to support Asher, and pray for him in his new life in Christ?"   We do!

Pastoral Care in June: Pastor Sonja Selboe will be available for pastoral care calls while Pastor Paul is away (June 4 – 26). Pastor Sonja can be reached at 360-297-1779.

Welcome Debbie Rimkus! Debbie began her role as church administrator this past week. She is excited to begin this ministry with Bethany and looking forward to renewing old friendships and making new ones. Debbie’s office hours will be Monday – Thursday, 10am – 1pm. Please feel free to stop by the church office to say hi and welcome Debbie.
