Weekly Announcements - July 1

We have been told that summer on Bainbridge Island begins on July 4th.  With the temperatures of the past week pressing that timeline forward, we are beginning our summer worship schedule this weekend.  We are moving our in-person worship service out of the parking lot (unless we have an unseasonal rain/snow shower) and into the patio area between the church and education building.  There we will enjoy an outdoor experience with the benefit of shade; we have half a dozen or so parking spots if any prefer to remain in their cars, listening to the FM transmitter. (Originally, we had planned on meeting on the north lawn, but there is no protection from the sun in that area)

For this 10am Sunday morning worship, you are invited to bring a folding chair, or use one of the church’s plastic chairs, which will be on location.  Those who would like to sit on the lawn may do so, in an area that is just behind the worship leadership, on the hill above the playground.  (Children are very welcome to play in the playground during the worship if that is OK with their parents)

This Saturday, Bethany will hold a 5:00pm Saturday evening worship service indoors for those who are vaccinated. The singing will be limited, but we will share in prayer, in the Word, and in Holy Communion, in a worship liturgy that is similar to that of Sunday morning.  The next Saturday evening worship will be on July 17th at 5pm.

On Sunday morning, July 4th, Pastor Paul is organizing the outdoor fellowship hour, and promises coffee and ROOT BEER FLOATS.  See below for how to sign-up to provide the goodies for coffee hours in the weeks to come.

Summer Coffee Hour: Pastor Paul has kicked off the return of coffee hour after the 10am Sunday morning worship service. Bethany will provide the coffee, juice and lemonade as well as disposable cups and napkins. Volunteer hosts will provide light snacks, set up and clean up.  There will be a sign-up sheet to host on the coffee hour table Sunday mornings, or sign up by calling Debbie in the church office.

Summer Bible Study: The Rachel Circle Bible Study group will next meet on July 6 at 10am. The Women's Bible Study group is on hiatus for the summer and will meet again in the fall. Stay tuned for details on the next meeting of the Men's Bible Study group.

Prayers are extended for: David and Jennifer Mueller's granddaughter Penelope who has been diagnosed with Covid-19 and for her parents as they worry and care for her.

Weekly Announcements - June 24

Dear Bethanians,

Here is what is happening this weekend and beyond at Bethany:

Worship in June: Pastor Paul returns for this last Sunday in June. The day promises to be warm and sunny so bring a lawn chair to sit by your car.

Worship in July and August: The Sunday morning 10am service will take place ON THE LAWN west of the church, weather permitting. Bring a lawn chair, a blanket, or remain in your car as we experience worship together in the beauty of summertime on Bainbridge Island. Coffee hour will also make a return on Sunday, July 4th! Pastor Paul will host the outdoor coffee hour. Outdoor coffee hour will continue throughout the summer if there is interest in hosting. Bethany will provide coffee, juice and lemonade, along with disposable cups and napkins. Hosts will provide light snacks and set up/clean up. Please call Debbie in the office to sign up for a Sunday in July or August.

Saturday Evening Worship: Periodically throughout July and August there will be a 5pm Saturday worship service in the Sanctuary. In July, the Saturday evening worship services will be on July 3rd and July 17th. These will be socially distanced worship services with no congregational singing, but will include prayer, scripture, a sermon and holy communion. People attending indoor worship are expected to be vaccinated, and there will be no fellowship hour following the service in the summer.

Summer Bible Study: The Rachel Circle Bible Study group will next meet on July 6 at 10am. The Women's Bible Study group is on hiatus for the summer and will meet again in the fall. Stay tuned for details on the next meeting of the Men's Bible Study group.

Prayers are extended for: Pastor Paul and Laurie as they travel back to Bainbridge after visiting grandson, Fritz.

Sing praise to the Lord, all you faithful; give thanks in holy remembrance.  Psalm 30:4
