The Bethany Mission Endowment Fund grants this year include $1500 to Compass Housing Alliance for community building at Compass on Dexter, a 72-unit building for families and individuals in the South Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle. The proposal included a matching gift and an invitation for everyone at Bethany to contribute as well. In response, Compass Housing Alliance will dedicate and name the community room at Compass on Dexter in honor of former Board member and Vice President Franklin Chu. (Significantly, the Franklin Chu Memorial Community Room is not only the site for community-building events, it also is where the Board of Directors and its committees regularly meet! Of course, the space includes cooking facilities as well!)
There are two ways to make a contribution. You may make a check payable to Compass Housing Alliance and send it to: Compass Housing Alliance, 210 Alaskan Way South, 5th floor, Seattle, WA 98104. Alternatively, you may make a check payable to Bethany Lutheran Church. In either case, please indicate on your check it is for “Franklin Chu Memorial Fund.” Chu is pictured below.
