Border-crossing photography exhibit coming

“Law Imagenes: Pictures of Confiscated Hope at the Border” is the title of a special exhibit on display Saturday and Sunday, March 21 and 22, at Poulsbo First Lutheran Church Christian Center.

Photographer Thomas Keifer captured images of personal items of people attempting to cross the southern border as he worked in a detention facility in Ajo, Arizona. The hours are noon to 4 p.m. March 21 and 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. The center is at 18920 Fourth Ave. NE, Poulsbo.

Adjustments made to communion, offering

Dear Bethany Community,

COVID-19, the “coronavirus,” is on the minds of many in these days. I know I consider this in making visits to care facilities, in preparing for gatherings like our midweek Lenten soup suppers, and even in my preschool chapel message a few days ago that addressed how we share God’s love with one another in ways other than touching.

In our planning for gatherings such as our worship, we want you to be aware of the provisions we have put in place at Bethany:

- In worship we will not be sharing the peace formally, but invite smiles and infectious singing.

- For holy communion distribution, we will use individual cups for the wine and grape juice.

- For our offering, we will have offering plates in the front of the worship space where your offering may be deposited as you go to receive communion.

- Staff is wiping down every exposed surface we can find with disinfectant (if you have extra at home, we invite you to bring it to Bethany in case we need additional).

- Greeting before and after the worship won’t require handshaking, but the sharing of stories and smiles, not germs.

Pastor Paul
