Upcoming week includes packing quilts, Halloween parades

Good Monday morning to everyone,

What an event-filled week we have coming up at Bethany. Tomorrow and Wednesday, we have the Bethany preschool students parading through the church, starting at 10:45 a.m. each day. Come by and help us hand out stickers and admire their costumes.

The quilters will be boxing their quilts on Tuesday at 10 a.m., bound for Lutheran World Relief. And on Thursday at noon, the baby-kit team will do the same. On Friday, the quilts and kits will be trucked to Our Redeemer's Lutheran Church in Ballard for eventual shipment to Lutheran World Relief headquarters in Baltimore. From there, they go to people in need throughout the world.

I can't wait for the week to unfold. Here are some images from last year's Halloween parades.

Combined P.E.O. meeting at Bethany on Wednesday

Hi everyone,

A combined group of the island's three P.E.O. groups held an annual meeting at Bethany today. It's always fun to have them here. P.E.O. stands for Philanthropic Educational Organization, and the longstanding group helps women attend college through scholarships.

Thank you, P.E.O.
