July 27 Announcements

August Bible Study: The Rachel Circle Bible Study group will meet on Tuesday, August 1^st at 10am. The Men’s Bible Study group will meet on Tuesday, August 8^th at 8am. The Women’s Bible Study & Book Group will not meet in August. They will meet again on Monday, September 11^th at 9:30am.

A Thank You: A huge thank you to Kathy & Doug Dudgeon for hosting our cookout last Saturday. A special thank you to Doug for serving as grill master while celebrating his birthday that day!

A Note from Jan Thrun: We are very pleased to let everyone know that Jan Thrun and her daughter, Lisa Deen, made it back to Bainbridge Island last weekend. Jan says, “Thanks for all your prayers, cards, notes and phone calls wishing me a speedy recovery.  They all helped so much in bringing me back home.  I am feeling better each day but still tire quickly. I hope to see you all soon when I’m able to return to church.” 

Vince Mattson’s 100^th Birthday!: Vince Mattson turns 100 on August 7^th! Let’s shower Vince with birthday cards to help him celebrate this momentous occasion. Cards can be dropped off at the Bethany office or mailed to Vince at Madrona House Senior Living, 8800 Madison Ave N, Bainbridge Island WA 98110.

Holden Evening Prayer: Our next Holden Evening Prayer service will be on Saturday, August 12 at 5pm.

LWR School Kit Supplies: Summer may be only half over, but the school supplies sales are already here! The Rachel Circle will be putting together School Kits for Lutheran World Relief over the next few weeks. When you are out and about (or online) to shop, please consider purchasing some of the items that will help school children around the world. More information about the LWR School Kits, including the list of needed items, can be found on the hallway bulletin board. If you still have a list from last year, please note that we will not need rulers this year.

Altar Flowers: The altar flowers this weekend are given by Benay and Lynn in honor of their 52^nd wedding anniversary.

Prayers are Requested: for Evan Stoll who is now at Martha and Mary recovering from his stroke; for Jan Thrun who is grateful to be back at home where she is slowly regaining her strength; for DeMar and Pat Sather who are transitioning to the Fieldstone community.

July 20 Announcements

Summer Cookout: Join us this Saturday, July 22^nd after the 5pm service for a cookout! Bethany will provide burgers, hot dogs, and chips. You are invited to bring a side dish or dessert to round out the fare. Those who attend Sunday morning worship are welcome to come for the cookout and enjoy this time with the Saturday folks.

New Signage at Bethany: You may have noticed the No Loitering signage at both entrances to the parking lot. Over the last several months, the Bethany parking lot had become a place for young people to hang out at all hours of the day and night. While we want young people to have a safe place to gather, we were experiencing a significant amount of trash and other impacts (including an increased fire risk with the dry field conditions) that made this no longer safe for the people hanging out, the staff and our preschool families. If you are asked about the signage, don’t hesitate to encourage people to reach out to the Bethany office with any questions or concerns.

Altar Flowers: The altar flowers this weekend are given by Whitney Lane in honor of Pastor Howard Fosser.

Prayers are Requested: for Evan Stoll as he recovers from his stroke and will be transitioning soon to a care facility for rehab; for Jan Thrun who is regaining her strength and hopes to be back on Bainbridge soon; for DeMar and Pat Sather who are transitioning to the Fieldstone community.
