43 baby kits, 94 quilts boxed for sending

Good morning,

Bethany Lutheran Church was a very busy place Tuesday when members of the quilting and baby-kit groups packed up items to send to Lutheran World Relief. The work took all day, and lots of boxes, tape and muscle power. At the end, 47 baby kits and 94 quilts were stacked waiting in the narthex. From here, they will be trucked to a distribution point in Seattle, then shipped to LWF headquarters in Baltimore, where they will be sent around the world, used not only on beds, but as walls, floors and ceilings. ELCA asks help for South Sudan relief

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is asking for help to ease severe famine in South Sudan. Here is a statement from the ELCA. More information can be found at elca.org.

“Right now, more than seven million people need humanitarian assistance in South Sudan. The ELCA is poised to respond to this need. Through our longstanding relationships in the region, we are prepared to accompany communities through food distribution, water and sanitation, and psychosocial support. Your gifts to Lutheran Disaster Response are critical to implementing this work. Together, we can provide life-saving aid to our brothers and sisters in South Sudan when they need it most.

Checks can be mailed to:
Lutheran Disaster Response
P.O. Box 1809

with “South Sudan Relief” in the memo line.
