October 5 Announcements
Faith Formation: This week's Sunday School lesson builds on the theme of God's Compassion with the story of David's kindness to Jonathan's son Mephibosheth. Kids are welcome to join the fun after the Children's message in worship. This week's memory verse is, "Do not be afraid for I am a friend of your father's and I will show you kindness." Kindness is powerful! It brings us out of fear and lifts us up instead. David's example shows us how we too can be kind to each other, too.
Nursery Care is available in the upper level of the Education building throughout the service. Please be sure to fill out a registration form for your child (available in the nursery). The children's corner in the sanctuary is always available for your use.
Finch Green LLC Forum: Plan to stay after worship this Sunday, October 8, when Jonathan Davis and Marja Williams from the Finch Green LLC will be at the Adult Education forum to share the latest news from Finch Green and its progress for building 20+ affordable homes on Bethany’s property. Jonathan and Marja will also lead us in an envisioning exercise of what a village could look like around the church and school. All are welcome.
October Impact Gathering: Our next intergenerational meeting we call “Impact” will be this Sunday, Oct 8, at 4:00pm. Everyone is invited all the time, but for this particular gathering, we’re extending the invitation to your PETS! In keeping with our Season of Creation and in honor of the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, patron of the environment and animals, we’ll be blessing the animals! We’ll likely meet outside the front of the church for this event, and instead of a sharing a meal as usual, this month we’ll enjoy animal-themed snack bags to go. For planning purposes, please let Pastor Erin know if you’re planning on coming and what pets you’ll be bringing with you—but as always, if you didn’t have a chance to RSVP, come anyway!
A Note of Thanks: Words do not seem adequate to express my family's and my thankfulness for the outpouring of support from the Bethany Community in prayers, notes, and cards. You have accompanied us through months of challenges to Evan's health. Your prayers were answered in God's strength and peace not only for myself but for Evan as well. Following his death, we continue to be comforted by God's mercies expressed so well through all of you. Isaiah 40.28-31. With a thankful heart, Helen Stoll
