Tree is up; treasure trove of heather information discovered

Hi all,

Ruth Bartunek of the Altar Guild and her crew put up this year's Christmas in the sanctuary this morning. All hands were on deck as it went up. It's a Noble and very elegant. I put an image of the scene on the homepage.

Now, here's something interesting. Below are the 15 types of heather we have on the Bethany premises and what they look like. These plants, as far as I can tell from the files here in the office, were installed in 2003. They're at a point where some need replacing, but we didn't know what kind to buy. Finally, finally, Memorial Garden leader Dick Coar discovered a list of the plants. I looked each up online and put this together. Hopefully, now all we have to do is match colors when we replace, in order to preserve the look.

Small victories .... good.

More than 60 enjoy FFF Christmas Party

Good Monday morning,

Each year, it seems to get better. More than 60 people came to the FFF Christmas Party on Thursday. Traditional meatballs, scalloped potatoes, pickled herring and an entire table full of traditional Scandinavian desserts were brought. We sang carols. Solos were sung by Marcy Daley and Carlton Anderson. Benay and Lynn Nordby offered their rendition of "Silent Night" and Patricia Siburg deftly handled the 88's. Here are some images:
