CROP Walk coming September 24

This year's CROP Walk to fight hunger near and far takes place Sunday, Sept. 24. Bethany youth will join Pastor Paul in setting up and dismantling the route markers. Sign up on the bulletin board. The route starts and ends at Eagle Harbor Congregational Church. Registration is at 1:30 p.m. and the walk starts at 2 p.m. Sponsor packets are available at Bethany. The event sponsored by Church World Services typically raises thousands at Bethany and in the community for the cause.

Bethany, by the way, will have  a "Mini CROP Walk" here involving kids and families who might not otherwise make that long a walk. Stay tuned for details.

Beer passport helps Martha & Mary

Area Lutheran churches including Bethany will take part in “Microbrews for Martha & Mary” the entire month of October to benefit the Poulsbo-based care provider. “Passports” can be purchased at marthaandmary.org for $10 and the Bethany office has some, too. Participating breweries will donate a portion of their proceeds from beers purchased by passport holders. Participating breweries include Downpour (Kingston), Hales (Bremerton), Lovecraft (Bremerton), Slaughter County (Port Orchard), Slippery Pig (Poulsbo), Sound Brewing (Poulsbo), Valhöll (Poulsbo) and Western Red (Poulsbo).
