Great Decisions series about to commence

Good morning,

Set aside Saturday mornings between Jan. 13 and March 3 for Kitsap Regional Library’s “Great Decisions” series. Taking place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall here at Bethany, the series offers experts who take up the great questions of the time. Topics for January include “South Africa’s Fragile Democracy” on Jan. 13, “Russia’s Foreign Policy” on Jan. 20, and “The Waning of Pax Americana” on Jan. 27. All sessions are free and include light refreshments.

Updating constitution takes lots of work

Good morning,

A big thanks to David Swartling, pictured, for writing proposed updates to the Bethany Constitution, bylaws and continuing resolutions. Lots of work, adeptly done by the former ELCA secretary. Voting members of the congregation will assess the changes that would bring the Constitution into conformity with the ELCA Model Constitution at a congregational meeting after worship on Sunday, Jan. 28. An informational meeting will take place beforehand, so if you have questions, you’ll get answers. The proposed documents are on this website, under the “Constitution” tab at the top.

Also, we're setting up the tree at 10 a.m. today, and adding the lights at 2 p.m. Come and help. Plus, I need some strong types to help move a big-screen TV to the transfer station this morning. Don't be shy to volunteer.
