Tree is taken down

The magnificent 25-foot Bethany Christmas tree was dismantled this morning, always a bittersweet experience. Under the able direction of Ruth Bartunek, a team of about a dozen people took off the ornaments, ribbon and lights and carefully stored them away for next year. Thanks to Pastor Paul, Nancy Wetzler, Ron and Carol Fenner, Cindy Heine, Joe Sommerseth, Tad Merten, Heather and Dave Ballaine, Janet and Fred Williams, Barbara Swartling and Kathy Dudgeon for all the work this morning.

But the excitement didn't stop there. Jeff Jensen, a retired civil engineer, spent most of the morning atop a very tall ladder replacing the ceiling lights in the sanctuary. Thanks, Jeff.

Some 419 worshipers come at Christmas

Hi All,

Christmas was great here at Bethany, with 419 people worshiping here at the four worship services. Lots and lots of children at the first two services, so that was fun.

I'm expecting some really good images from Joe Michael, and I'll post them on the new Bethany website once I receive them.

If you missed coming here at Christmas, stop by this week and take a look at the enormous Christmas tree in the sanctuary. It is truly splendid. The altar floral arrangement is here too, and that must be 5 feet tall. It's really pretty. Our Memorial Garden is all decked out, so don't forget to visit there, as well.

The church stays dressed for Christmas until Jan. 4, when the take-down crews are scheduled.
