Smoke is gone, but it left in a commotion

Finally, the smoke from the B.C. wildfires is gone. But it didn’t leave without slamming the door behind it. On Thursday afternoon, we had the windows open here at Bethany, drying freshly scrubbed carpets. The smoke, aided by a strong breeze from the Northeast, was enough to trigger the fire alarms. Within minutes, the fire engine from the Bainbridge Island Fire Department had arrived. It wasn’t too difficult for these experts to spot the alarm that had been triggered by the smoke. It had happened elsewhere. It was right inside a fully opened window to the north. Once in awhile the false alarms get triggered, and I use the times to make give one more look to our fire-alarm system, to make sure all is in good order. One final note: the carpets are dry.
