March 7 Announcements

Sunday School News
Sunday school begins again this week! Children are invited to proceed to Fellowship Hall after the children's message in worship. Kathy Dudgeon, Sunday School Coordinator, will lead kids in a lesson, fun activities and crafts, and of course, a yummy snack. Please join us!

Sermons and Devotionals
Copies of the sermon are available on Sunday mornings. They are located on the resource table at the entrance of the library. The second quarter Christ in our Home devotional is also available on the resource table.

Easter Lilies
Soon the Altar Guild will be decorating the altar for Easter with beautiful Easter Lilies. Please consider making a donation towards the cost of the lilies in honor or memory of someone special. Envelopes are in the bulletin or available on the table in the narthex. Drop your donation in the collection plate during the offering or with Debbie in the office during business hours.

March Bible Study
The Women’s Bible Study and Book group will meet on Monday, March 11 at 9:30am. The Men’s Bible Study group will meet on Tuesday, March 12 at 8:00am. There are study materials for the Men’s group on the small table at the entrance of the library. All Bible Study groups meet in fellowship hall. The Rachel Circle Bible Study group will continue its March Bible study discussion on Tuesday, March 19 at 12:00pm. The study discussion will start at page 17 in the Gather Magazine. Bring a sack lunch.

Movie Outing
The Fellowship Team has planned an outing to see the movie, Cabrini, on Friday, March 8th. Times will be available on the Bainbridge Cinemas website on Monday, March 4th. Depending on times, the attendees will meet for dinner/appetizers beforehand, or an after-movie discussion. Ticket prices are: Adult $14 and Senior $11.25 (65+).

The movie is a true story based on the life of Francesca Cabrini, a Catholic missionary. Arriving in New York City in 1889, Italian immigrant Francesca Cabrini is greeted by disease, crime and impoverished children. She soon sets off on a daring mission to convince the mayor to secure housing and health care for society's most vulnerable. With broken English and poor health, Cabrini uses her entrepreneurial mind to build an empire of hope unlike anything the world has ever seen.

If you are interested, please let Kathy Dudgeon know via email ( ), text  or voicemail (206-617-1264) so she can reserve seats. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uuFkt3w-7kI

A Special Invitation
The Rachel Circle would like to invite the congregation to help them celebrate National Quilting Day on March 16th.  Please join us in the fellowship hall from 1-3 to help put together quilts. No quilting or sewing experience is needed. The tasks are simple ones of tying knots and pinning.  This is an opportunity to see what is done on Tuesdays and to help put together some of the wonderful quilts that we send to Lutheran World Relief.  All ages are welcome.  There will be a craft for those not able to tie knots or pin.  We also plan on some light refreshments.  Please join us for this day of community service.

Lent
Our mid-week Lenten observance will continue for two more Wednesday evenings. We'll gather at 6:30 p.m. in Fellowship Hall for a light soup and bread supper, followed by a reflective time of worship in the sanctuary at 7:00 p.m. Please come for a time of fellowship and quiet contemplation during the holy season of Lent. All are welcome.

Public Planning Commission Meeting
Bethany’s affordable housing odyssey is underway and is moving through the early stages of COBI’s permitting process.  The next step is a Public Participation Meeting at the Planning Commission!  After a presentation by architect Jonathan Davis, public input will be solicited.  Housing Resources Bainbridge (HRB) and Finch Green LLC will have representatives present to advocate for the project under development at Bethany, but you also are invited to attend and to speak if you are inspired to do so!  The Planning Commission meeting will take place at City Hall beginning at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 14.  (You can also attend remotely via Zoom at this link:  https://bainbridgewa.zoom.us/j/86561143070.)
