July 7 Announcements

Outdoor Worship and Pie Social: Plan to attend worship this Sunday, July 10. We will once again gather in the beautiful patio space for an outdoor service. Worship on Sunday morning will be followed by an old-fashioned Pie Social. Our wonderful Bethany choir will act as hosts and invites everyone to bring their favorite pie to share. There’ll be plenty of coffee, and ice cream to top the pies. Thank you to the Bethany Choir for their anthem and organizing the pie social.

July Worship: Worship the following two weekends, July 17 and July 24, will be Sunday morning only in fellowship hall with coffee fellowship following the service. Pastor Paul will be away, visiting Fritz and preaching at the 150th anniversary of his home congregation in Iowa.  Pastor Shirley Funk will be our preacher, and Pastor Sonja Selboe our presider. Pastor Sonja Selboe can be reached for any pastoral emergencies at 360-979-7985 (cell) or 360-297-1779 (home). On the weekend of July 30/31, we will resume our indoor Saturday evening worship (5pm) and worship outside on Sunday mornings (10am).

Special Music this Sunday: A big thank you to the Paulson-Houser family for their special music this morning. Dan Houser is joined by his daughters Sasha and Allie, the two higher voices in the trio. Sasha and Allie are making themselves available to hire out for an assortment of work around the household/yard.  See their flyer at the pie table Sunday morning.

Sanctuary Update Project: Work has begun on removing the ceiling for the sanctuary update project! A huge thank you to Allen Lang and his team for volunteering their time for this piece of the update.

Supporting Martha & Mary: At the last Martha and Mary Church and Community Committee meeting, it was decided that sponsoring churches would select a month to supply treats for the M and M staffers (nearly 400 strong) when they have to get regularly tested for Covid. (Currently, twice weekly.) The CEO says it’s a great morale booster for staff to know that people in churches are thinking about them. Bethany’s month is this September, and we will collect donations throughout the month of August. Treats/snacks must be individually commercially packaged; people can either donate actual snacks or contribute $$ for purchases. Ideas include granola bars, single serve bags of popcorn, nuts, chips, jerky sticks, fruit rollups, and/or individual beverage containers. Please put items in a basket provided in the fellowship hall; checks, made out to Bethany designating Martha & Mary in the memo line, should be placed in the offering plate, or given to Debbie in the Bethany office. Thank you for your generosity and for your support of these vital healthcare workers.

Blood Drive at Bethany: Bloodworks Northwest will be holding blood drives at Bethany from 10am-4pm on Thursday, July 28 and Friday, July 29. The need for blood doesn’t take a vacation. Please schedule your appointment TODAY to donate at Bethany Lutheran Church on July 28 & 29. Invite family and friends to donate too! Appointments/masks required. Thank you for being a LIFE SAVER!
