Septic System Update
The additional water damage mitigation work is done. Now the Women’s and Men’s restrooms need a few days to dry completely. The upstairs restrooms will not be available for use this Sunday. The restroom on the lower level is available for use. Due to the limited availability of restrooms, there will not be a coffee hour after the worship service this Sunday, July 6.

Visit from Rev. Lisa Kipp
On Tuesday June 24th, Reverend Lisa from Lutheran World Relief met with the Rachel Circle quilters. She shared many stories and lots of information about the use of our quilts and kits. The first question she answered was about funding. They had been receiving approximately 57% of their funding from the government. The majority of that funding is gone so they've had to lay off people. She then went on to tell us about the response to the emergency in North Carolina where quilts and personal care kits were distributed. Rev. Lisa then talked about a pilot program that focuses on a girls’ education program in Sierra Leone that they hope to expand. It rewards families for sending their girls to school and costs only $29 a month per girl. She stated that the quilts and baby care kits, besides being distributed to refugees, are placed in all the Lutheran hospitals around the world. We are the primary health care provider for Haiti. The baby care kits are used as an incentive for prenatal care. As always, it is good to hear how our quilts and kits benefit those in need.

Congregational Meeting on July 20
The Bethany Council has scheduled a special congregational meeting to be held following worship on Sunday, July 20. The purpose of the meeting is to authorize Finch Green’s architect, Jonathan Davis, to submit the preliminary plat for the Finch Green affordable housing project to the City of Bainbridge Island for approval, and to ratify unbudgeted expenses associated with the septic system repair and water damage work. Barbara Swartling will be available after worship this Sunday to answer questions about the septic repair expenses, and David Swartling will be available to answer questions about the preliminary plat application. Materials for the meeting will be available next Sunday, July 13.
