April 28 Announcements

May Newsletter: The May newsletter is now ready for your reading pleasure! Click here or pick up a copy in the narthex.

Scam Emails: Bethany staff members have seen an increase in the number of scam emails we are receiving, and we also have become aware of more serious scam email efforts that make it appear they are originating from a Bethany staff member. Please rest assured that no Bethany staff member will ever ask you for money, gift cards or other favors in an email. If you receive such an email, you should delete it or mark it as spam. And if you aren’t sure whether an email from us is legitimate, don’t hesitate to call the office and ask.

Sanctuary Project Update: The Sanctuary Project Committee has been hard at work evaluating needs, researching various possibilities, and gathering estimates. After presenting their findings to the congregational council, the committee is now finalizing their proposal for a congregational vote. Plan now to attend an informational gathering after worship on Sunday, May 1. Background information on the project was sent by regular mail and email. This will be your opportunity to hear the background of the project, review the draft proposal, and to ask questions of the committee. There will be a congregational meeting after worship on Sunday, May 22, to vote on the final proposal.

Rachel Circle Bible Study: The Rachel Circle Bible Study group will meet on Tuesday, May 3 at 10am. Materials are available in the library.

Thank You from the Carlton Anderson Family: To all the members of Bethany, you were a large and meaningful part of Grace and Carlton’s lives, but in each of their lives too. Thank you for your kindness in word and deed and your love and compassion shown is so many ways. God bless and keep you – the Family of Carlton & Grace Anderson, Paula, Nathan, Curtiss & Ken.

Amabile Concert: The Amabile Choir, under the direction of Bethany’s own Sylvia Cauter, is excited to be performing together again and will offer spring concerts on Friday, May 20 and Saturday, May 21 at 7:30pm in the Bethany Sanctuary. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at Dana’s Showhouse or from an Amabile Choir member.

Women’s Schola of Bainbridge Island:  The Women’s Schola of Bainbridge Island will sing the Office of Evensong at 6 pm on Sunday, May 8, at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church. Come hear traditional plainsong, anthems, psalms, and chants, and let the grace of sung prayer refresh you for the week to come.

Altar Flowers: The altar flowers this weekend are given by Gail and Dave Christensen in honor of April and May birthdays. There are a number of weekends available this spring and summer to provide altar flowers in honor or memory of a special person or occasion. A sign up sheet and information is available on the hall bulletin board.
