Weekly Announcements - July 29

Here is what is happening this week and beyond at Bethany:

Summer worship at Bethany: Sunday morning worship will continue to be in person in the patio area between the church and education building, weather permitting. Coffee fellowship will follow the service. Saturday evening worship will be inside at 5:00pm. The singing will be limited, but we will share in prayer, in the Word, and in Holy Communion, in a worship liturgy that is similar to that of Sunday morning.  Saturday evening worship in August will be on August 14th and August 28th.

Final Online Shared Worship: For many months we have been partnering with Poulsbo First Lutheran Church to provide online worship. This Sunday will be the final collaborative online worship as both Bethany and Poulsbo First return to in person worship. We are grateful this collaborative effort and look forward to continued opportunities to partner with Poulsbo First.

Bethany is Hiring!: Bethany is currently searching for a custodian. Click here to see the position description and details on applying or visit our website. Please encourage anyone you know who may be qualified and interested to apply.

Rachel Circle Bible Study: Rachel Circle will meet on Tuesday, August 3 at 10:00am.

Congratulations to
: Benay and Lynn Norby who are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on July 31; Emily Cauter and Vaughn Rohrdanz who will be getting married on August 7; Vince Mattson who will be celebrating his 98th birthday on August 7!

Back to School Supplies for Lutheran World Relief: Several Bethany members are busy making Lutheran World Relief book bags so we can send filled bags to school children around the world. You can help by filling the big basket in the Narthex with donations of school supplies. Supplies needed include: 70-sheet spiral notebooks (wide- or college-ruled), 30-centimeter or inches/centimeter rulers; pencil sharpeners; blunt/safety scissors; unsharpened #2 pencils with erasers; black or blue ballpoint pens (no gel ink); boxes of 16 or 24 crayons; 2 and ½ inch erasers. We will fill and ship the book bags in early October, when we also send our quilts and baby kits. Last year, Bethany shipped 57 school kits along with Lutheran World Relief quilts and baby kits. Let’s see if we can break that record this year!

BI/NK CROP Walk: Mark your calendars now for the BI/NK CROP Walk on Sunday, September 26th. The BI/NK CROP Hunger Walk is one of the strongest and longest-running CROP Walks in the nation. Each year, we rank among the top walks in the nation for funds raised – thanks to the amazing support of our faithful recruiters, our local faith communities, and our anonymous matching donor. We’ve walked for 25 years and raised nearly $1 million toward hunger relief, with 20% going to Helpline House and 5% going to NK Fishline Food Bank. The BI/NK CROP Walk team needs new members to help organize and run this important event. For more information or to join the team contact Dave Beemer, , 206.715.3901 or Chris Christensen, , 206.842.5830.

Prayers are extended for: Dick Heine who has entered hospice care; for Cindy Heine as she watches over Dick and mourns other family losses.
